Magazine cover final

This is my final magazine cover draft, it includes a pug, 5 sell lines, a pull quote, a graphic, a splash, header/footer and a masthead. The main colours I've used are a light baby blue and yellow, I find that these colours mix well with each-other and therefore used them for my magazine cover.
My main image is of Dafyd and is placed centred on the cover, the type of image is the basic "glare" where my model stares into the camera as to make it more engaging with the audience as it's as if the model is staring at the customer.
My masthead/logo is "VIII magazine" as in relation to King Henry "VIII" school, this is also where the idea of using a yellow colour in my magazine cover came from.
In my sell lines, pull quote and pug the first letter to start the sentence is a larger font size, colour and is also outlined to draw equal attention to everything on the cover making it seem more important.
Both my splash and header/footer has a thicker outlined font that allows it to stand out more which is especially important for the splash, which obviously is why the font of the writing is largest on the cover.
I also included a graphic with the king henry school logo as to get rid of free space making the magazine cover look more full and professional as too much clear space makes the magazine look less interesting.

Draft; Masthead.

My masthead has been kept original, it takes the roman numerical 8 from the schools name adding its uniqueness that every magazine needs, although this masthead is perfectly fine to use in my final draft I may alter it slightly to improve the look of my magazines cover; how I will alter it is still un-decided.

Draft; pull quote.

My pull quote is left vague and interesting, it includes the head teacher of the schools "gossip" making it seem more interesting than it could potentially ever be, attracting much more attention for a reader making the magazine seem more interesting to anyone who attends the KHS school on a daily basis; this is going to stay the same for my final draft as it is a powerful pull quote.

Draft; sell lines.

My magazine covers sell lines were kept short and interesting although they may be too short; they include factors needed for your average sell line but in my final draft I will be including more sell lines as suggested to do so, making my magazine cover of professional standards. They are all in small font besides the capital letter of the beginning sentence, this is something I'll be keeping throughout my final design.

Draft; pug.

My pug is fairly straight forward; placed at the top right of my magazine cover it gives a vague description of what's to be included in the magazine meaning it has to seem interesting, therefore I may change this to something of more importance in school life to therefore attract the attention of a reader more.

Draft; main image.

My main image will be the typical "glare" image of the model shoulders up, it will be a student of KHS sixth form and cover approximately half the magazine cover as a main image should; I will attempt to recreate this as closely as possible when I create the real deal, although this was only a quick sketch I will perfect the actual image using photo-shop.

Draft; graphic.

 This is the graphic of my magazine front cover. This was used to cover the blank space of my cover, its relevant to the school as it is their main logo, this makes the magazine cover look more professional and adds originality to the design of my cover, this will be kept throughout the development of my actual magazine cover.

Draft; splash.

My splash is of large font covering the lower part of my magazine cover coming in front of my main image with the same colour scheme as previously mentioned to make it stand out. In further development I may change my colour scheme to yellow and black so it then relates to the school more. The fonts design size and placement will stay the same.

Draft; header and footer.

The footer of my magazine captions "who you gonna call?" a generic quotation which gives the magazine cover originality, it's also very vague much like the header, developing more interest to any customer who reads the front cover of the magazine.



The colour scheme used for my header and footer is a bright yellow and orange I used these colours as they're bright and therefore attract attention to the reader, something important for a front cover.

Although my header is more of a direct informational phrase of "what to expect!" this may be changed after further development as it's slightly misleading.
